Hey Doc,
A short note as to the web site update. As you surely know, man is truely a creature of habit...was not sure what I thought of the new look at first, but now that I've had a chance to make a couple of visits, I must say it looks really good!

Hello to all my fellow Devil Doc's. This site was passed on to me by one of my former chief's. I must say it's pretty cool so far. Hopefully you will soon have some more people checking it out and getting involved.
Just a little something to let those who have forgotten how lucky they are to have made it out of Iraq unscathed.....I work part time for an insurance company who does physical exams for those applying for life insurance. About a week ago I was giving a client his physical and noticed pictures of a young man in cammi's sitting on a humvee in the desert. Of course I knew he was in Iraq, so I made conversation. Turns out this Devil Doc was over there, riding in the humvee that was hit by a roadside bomb. He was sitting in a different seat than where he normally does, next to the driver. The kid riding in the rear seat was killed, as was the driver. The other kid sitting in the rear was critically injured and coincidentally was medically discharged. This devil doc who survived, broke almost every bone in his face, after being hit with a tool box in the explosion. Regardless of his injuries and his own severe bleeding, he continued to work on his brothers who were hurt in this roadside bombing. He could have gotten out of the Navy, but instead, he re-enlisted and is still serving his country. His father says his son said he would go back there in a second if they wanted him to, to help make sure that more boys come back home alive.
Just giving a little hats off to one of ours who greatly deserves it!

Nope I don't know you. I came on board with this unit in Jan. 2005. Prior to that I was with a bulk fuel company out in Phoenix. I am sure everyone else knows you anyway, except for the Newbie's, however we have had a lot of change in the past year, lots of guys transferred to 2/25 and a few went to Iraq, and others just transferred out to who knows where. Chief Bair went back to the blue side.

Well, enjoy the unit, I spent most of my reserve enlistment with them.
Chief Bair is a good guy.
Be safe...
Send my regards to the old timers .

Will do. We still have Pickering, Samms, Richardson (though he is retiring), Peralta, Roberto, Davis and some others who are deployed right now. I am sure you know these guys. When you say you never came back, you mean to the unit? Or you are still in Iraq?
Best of luck to you,
Sempre Fi,

I know all those guys. I returned from OIF 1 and got a job in Baghdad with KBR. Been here ever since. I posted a description in the jobs part of this.
Please let Rich know it was good to serve with him before he retires.

Ok I see it now. I know a few people who went over there to do civilian work, though I can't say who or where they are working. One is my former LPO in my old unit, HM2 Juan Mendoza. Do you know him? He's over there working in the civilian sector.
I will tell Richardson you said hello, etc. He's a good guy and will be sorely missed. When was it you were deployed? We have a couple guys out there now, but I am not sure if you know them. They were farely new to the unit when I got here, and they volunteered to go. Then we had a few who just got deployed in DEC, and they didn't volunteer. One guy just came off active duty and did a year over there already, they joined the reserves and got activated again. He's pretty pissed, as you can imagine. He's got a little baby at home, a wife, and an older kid, I think she's like 5 or 6, HM3 Gallego, in case you see him over there.
Take care and be safe,
HM3 DeLaCruz

I know a Juan Mendoza, actually think we went to FMSS if the same one.
Dont know the HM3 you mentioned, but Ill keep an eye out. There is lots of work out here for the HM types.
There is also lots of HM work with the fleet here, so I am sure you may see one or the other if you wanted.
Man, so much has changed in 4 yrs

Juan Mendoza was active duty for I think like 10 or 11 years, He has a total of 17 or 18 years in. Could it be the same?

Doubt it, for some reason the guy I am thinking of strikes me as being from Tx.
