Damn,
I hope that you are still looking for info on this school. As my name asys I am an Advanced Xray tech. I love what I do, but if you dont then find somethin else to do. This school is just over one year long, and coverrs everything you cvan think of to cover the radiology field. A&P, Physics, Biology, all kinds of stuff. Not sure what else you want to know. Oh dont listen to the IDC and PMT side of the house. You do not need to do these to advance and make Chief. I made HM1 in under 10 years. Most of this time is in xray. From this school you can get your national registry, then brach out to MRI, CT, Ultrasound to name a few. Also this puts you close to an Associates. You also have the oppertunity to make a little extra cash by moonlighting, one of the few schools that enable you to do this. Any other questions plase ask. I will check this more often now that I see that there is more than just IDC and PMT guys out there. HAHA

10 years... WOW MAN!
We had an HM1 at Corps School... (now Chief Selectee) Deleroca, who made it in about that. Very inspiring.
I'veordered the Bibs for 3rd. I'm up for the test in about a year from This now... so by the time I finish Field Med... I should be ready for the exam. Which leaves nothing but MONTHS and MONTHS of review time.
Any pointers??? Courses...???

Hey does anyone have any information on this school. I am with Med Battalion and have a corpsman who wants this school bad...they keep telling him he has to go back to the blue side to get in.
Any info would be appreciated! I really want to help this Doc out. He's a good guy. Anyone know about funding for this school, dates, location, contact information to get a quota, etc??
Thanks

I got back from Iraq just over a year ago. I see the last post on this was 1.5 years ago. I was with 372 and a HM3 from MWSS 372 went to ADV X-ray school from the wing. I love this job and as far as job security on the other side few beat it(and IDC is not one of them). All interested let me know.

So what does this mean for those of us who are being forced to go greenside? two years greenside then apply to come back blue side for a year before we get to go to xray school?
As far as I know, no. I am not "in the loop" for that part of it, but I think that being that the number of HM's out there in the FMF arena, and the number of "sea" slots are limited and do not match up. To make you go to "sea" prior to Xray school does not make much sence on pure numers. If there are different ideas or knowledge then please teach on.

Xraydoc, why the snide comments about IDC's? Are you tired of working for us or something?
Workin for you HAHAHA.
No I have just found that ya'll are hard corps recruiters for the IDC field. Even pushy at times. I have know some really good and in turn really bad IDC's. But you can say the same of all fields. Really I am not hatin on the IDC community ya'll do what you do and we will continue to laugh... ;o

Xraydoc, have you made Chief yet? If so, you didn't "get it". You still have a technician attitude. As far as the pushy recruiting tactics to get Sailors to go to IDC school, not towards you I'm sure. Stay in your worker-bee world. The Navy needs career laborers. As far as your comment about IDC and PMT not setting you up for life on the outside comment, I have this to say. Off the top of my head, I can think of several IDCs in the DC area who are doing good. One is a clinic administrator at Georgetown University Hospital, another is a GS-13 in the federal government, several are GS-11 and 12s, I do medical recruiting and make lots of money, and I'm about to place a retiring Master Chief 8425 into a sweet management job. Big commission for me. Your snipe and run comments about IDCs and PMTs are not only cowardly but kind of weird. If you don't like us fine, I don't like you either. But don't make unfounded statements that may stop a Corpsman from entering a kick-ass NEC.

One other thing chuckle head, I've copied and saved your dumb comments in case you try to edit them.
alright guys - it is your right to voice your opinion - but play nice :)
Remember cutting someone down to build yourself up isn't the way to get people to look up to you.

Exactly my point.
Okay well, I think I may have hit a nerve. Man um…Really, I think your verbal anger is miss-centered. Never did I call you our shipmate’s names, “cowardly” is not something I would EVER call one of my brothers. I was under the impression that this was a fun place to banter. If this is not true oldnavy then maybe I should drop from this site.
Some of the best “people” not to mention sailors I have known are PMT’s and IDC’s. My “snide” remarks are centered on the people that have a sense of humor and I wrote my posts as such. I have had both MO and IDC trying to “recruit” me to there side, and I know I could do either one without a problem, just really don’t want to, that does not appeal to me. I am very easy going and love to yap back and forth between the NEC community of who is best and has a better job. No one ever wins because we are all partial to our jobs and we chose those for reason.
To answer your questions, I am not a HMC yet, I am only eligible for this next test coming up. I realize that you do not “just get it”. I don’t see where I said that but my worker-bee mind may not be able to find it. Where am I bolstering your technician attitude comment? Since you have copied all my posts maybe you can enlighten me on this. Being that the CO, XO and CMC came down yesterday to award me the SSOQ for the 3 other commands that fall under NHCC, I think I have a handle on your stayin out of you worker-bee mentality you attached to me. Also, the jobs you are finding, are these strait PMT’s and IDC’s with no extra schooling at all? I was not aware that you could be a Clinic Administrator without a degree. If they have this degree they did not get this from the Naval School House that they also graduated from PMT or IDC School from. I believe that that would require extra school which I never made a comment on. I myself am going that route.
I realize this is long. I have never meant any of my prior posts to be anything but playful. I never call out any one hatefully or call them names. I would like to stay apart of this family but I don’t know if that would be a good idea since some of my comments and post can be so misconstrued. To DeeDee please tell me when I cut someone down. If I did this and anyone took it as malicious then I do apologize.
Xraydoc…out
xraydoc - I have just reread all of the posts on this thread - here is my take (correct me if I am wrong - it wouldn't be the first time) :D
You didn't cut anyone down - my comment was actually geared toward old navy who called you a chucklehead and referred to your comments as dumb - we are here to support each other and name calling is not nice (I think our moms taught us that a LONG time ago) :)
What I read in your posts is that going IDC is not something that you personally are interested in - your decision. I didn't take your comments as being discouraging to Corpsman who may be interested in persuing that career direction. You were just voicing your opinion and you are entitled to that. One of the perks of being an American. ;)
Don't you for one minute consider leaving this community - Don't make me go all MOM on you :D

The comments in the first 2 paragraphs about not listening to the IDC and PMT side of the house because you don't need these to make Chief and how IDC did not equal job security led me to ask him why he made those statements. He then came back with the "we will continue to laugh" comment.
If you don't see that as trying to provoke a reaction, then please ask for a second opinion. A chucklehead is someone who stands around chuckling at his own dumb comments. It comes from being nervous and un-sure of ones self. For me, this isn't about which NEC is the best. Recruiting and retention in the operational NECs is hard enough without dis-information. Throw in comments like these, and it gets even tougher. The Navy can buy most technician jobs from the civilian world but IDCs and PMTs are born and bred and reared from early in their careers. I was just trying to protect the future IDCs and PMTs from hearing wrong information.
