Army Prior Service looking to become a Corpsman...please help!!

Hi I am looking to join either Navy Reserve or Active Navy as a FMF Corpsman. I am Prior Service Army with an Honorable Discharge with an RE:3. Am I eligible to become an FMF Corpsman? Will the Liaison at MEPS put FMSS in my contract if I insist? Please help I am looking to join ASAP!!

It might be cake, or it might be impossible. Generally speaking, it is my understanding that soldiers with Reenlistment Eligibility (RE) Code 3 on their DD214 are ineligible for enlistment unless a waiver is granted for whatever their disqualification is. Some waivers are routine, but others are more difficult to obtain.

I recommend speaking to a Recruiter to discuss specific aspects of your case and the possibility of obtaining a waiver. It is entirely possible you could go HM, but details need to be discussed with a subject matter expert to know for sure.

Be sure to obtain a 2nd & 3rd opinion before giving up on the idea.
