Chief,
He says hello. Small navy huh? Do you then know an HM2Pat King? I was stationed with him at MCRD Parris Island and I know he was there in NOLA. Chief, are you an instructor at NHCS?About the whole NCS thing, it was never my intention to do 20 years, but when my recruiter offered me half of the GI Bill for fifteen months active duty that looked pretty good. When I recently applied for the VA benefits that were promised in my contract ("upon completion of active duty") I was pretty much told NO.I have written my congressman, but I still have no definitive timeline of when I'll get these benefits. Could be a year could be when I graduate (I start school at the University of West Florida next week). Needless to say my outlook on this program has definitely changed.Being an 8404, if they wanted to they could call me back tommorow. Also I was on the forefront of the NCS program (Jun04) so no one really knew anything about it yet. My Dad did tell me that there would be a good chance that I would go with the Marines so I kinda knew what I was getting into. No regrets though. Joining the Navy was probably the best decision I've ever made.
