I'm a Marine, and though I've got two years left to kill on my current contract, I'm thinking pretty hard about going Navy and becoming a corpsman, because Doc's are awesome (That's the gist of it) and my current MOS isn't really rewarding at all (I'm Airfield services/ Recovery).

So I was wondering if there are any Doc's out there could give me some advice on what to expect in school, what to worry about for promotions, and how I get myself attached to a Marine unit.

I'd ask our Doc here, but we usually just talk about how much the next shot is going to make me throw up.

Semper Fi Iggy;

I am a former Vietnam era Marine Corps infantry who has a son in the Navy as a Corpsman.

Welcome aboard, someone with more Navy knowledge should come along and answer your questions for you.

ok here we go I hope this will work for the USMC as it dose for the Army. First thing first you need to go talk to a Navy recuriter tell him what you want to do. If he dose not see any reason why not. he should give you a form signed called a DD 368. You need to take this up the COC and get it signed by a BN commander or higher. Use to be CO commander but because of the War they move it higher up the COC. If you BN is willing to release you they will sign it. Im sure there are some other Marine Corps paper work todo. I have to fill out a personal action request for and a conseling form for my release packet. Now weather those are the ones you need to doin the Marines Im not sure, but the first step will always be the DD form 368 signed by the recuirter and your self take that pass it along the COC and go from there. Once you release packet it filled out and signed by everyone. Take it back to the recuirter and move on from there. Im sure you will have to vist MEPS again and go through all the BS like when you first enlisted. Any other questions i would be happy to answer them as im goin through the same process now, only I'm going Army to Navy.
