I just wanted to ask a few questions without getting bashed because they may be no-brainers to some. I’m already in the navy and I’m an undesignated striker and here are my questions:

1. I really want to go corpsmanÂ*and specialize inÂ*a certain field such as surg tech. I just wanted to know what other C-schoolsÂ*are there for HM’s.

2.Â*I wanted to know could IÂ*specialize in dental tech even though they have merged with HM.

3.Â* Is there anyway I could get a C schoolÂ*offer/choice before I went to HM A-school?

4. I also am heard that since we are atÂ*WAR FMF is no longer an option? I’m not too interested in working under gun fire but it that’s what it takes to further my career the so be it.Â*

5. As a FLEET Returnee would a have a top choice as far as orders, or would grades be the deciding factor?

i'm really would like as much info as possible feel free to email me at belld@CG55.navy.mil (mailto:belld@CG55.navy.mil)

Â*

thanks!

Dude,

Your doing the job that has to be done, and to be honest if you are recommended by your CO then good on ya.. here are your questions and here are my answers..

;-)

1. I really want to go corpsmanand specialize ina certain field such as surg tech. I just wanted to know what other C-schoolsare there for HM’s.

If a C school is availible when you come in they will try to get you into the slot, the ones that were avail last week were, Surg, Psych, AVT, LAB and of course if you qaul Recon etc..

2.I wanted to know could Ispecialize in dental tech even though they have merged with HM.

Per BUPERS, nope only first termers (I.e no fleet returnee's) you rocket out of the NEC after E-5 anyways..

3.. Is there anyway I could get a C schooloffer/choice before I went to HM A-school?

Well I hate to tell you this but the only way you will get a C'SCHOOL" guarenteed after A-school, is if that Career counselor that you said was a "ASS" on a national board helps you out.. I might edit that post if I were you..

4. I also am heard that since we are atWAR FMF is no longer an option? I’m not too interested in working under gun fire but it that’s what it takes to further my career the so be it.

Behind door #1.. FMF! Good choice..

Hey wait a minute it's behind door #2 and #3.. What gives..

Like the man says we are at war!!! But as a Fleet Returnee if your grades are up, you have a good chance of getting a C-School. You have to keep the grades up though as this gives HMC Siefert a idea if you can hack it in a advanced school. This answers #5 as well..

Good Luck.. Edit that post then buy your CCC a Soda or something or better yet go help him out as he is probably overworked as it is.. Trust me if you help him and quit whining like most do you will get what you want as he will want to go the extra mile for you. This is what a shipmate does for a shipmate.. (See I am Navy..!)

;-)
Good on'ya..

Good Afternoon,

I am also a striker working in a squadron at Norfolk, VA. I already have orders to go to HM A school in February '07. I was reading posts in the Forum and i was wondering about the C schools but some of them require FMSS. I would like to do Pharmacy or Dental Technician or Optician. Those are my three options. What I would like to know is where are the schools at? How long is it? My friend who was also a striker; she said that after you finish A school they encourage you to go to Dental as a C school for fleet returnees. Is that true? Which one (Pharmacy Techinician, Dental Technician, Optician) of this needs a FMSS as a prerequisites? I am not trying to stay in the navy but 4 more years for now. So i don't think it should be a good idea to go to FMSS right?

Thank you for your time.
