I've tried to look for the post but cant find it. I seem to recall that if a Corpsman wished to try out for the Recon indoc that it was possible to let someone know at "A" school? No saying one would take the indoc there at A School, but that his name might be passed along or perhaps be sent to someone so some information might be passed on to him?

Any truth to this, or must a Corpsman simply wait until he reaches his fleet command to request permission to try out?

If they are coming to "A" School and they are coming straight through the pipeline from BootCamp they need to let the dive motivators know upon reporting that they are interested in doing the Recon thing.

These students military bearing has to be above board, be able to take a order regardless from their superiors, if they mouth off once they are out.

If they can do that all the way through Corps School and pass corps school, and also the RECON PFT test, then the Dive Motivators will work on getting them orders for RECON.

Hope this helps..

Da-Chief.

Chief.

Are the dive motivators in boot camp or "A" school?

Thanks,

Chris

Unless things have changed, there should be someone you can talk to at each level of training: Boot, Corps, FMSS...

Recruitment presentations aren't that uncommon. The presentation might only be a quick blurb like: this is us, if ya wanna join talk to HM2 Smith and he'll guide you from there...

If you don't get a presentation then ask your immediate chain at an appropriate time early in the course. Use some common sense and ask the E5 before bothering the O3. Don't ask your first day of Boot Camp, but don't wait until the last half of Corps School. (Maybe during some quiet time on 1-3 Day?) You can also consult your Career Counselor.

If you haven't gone to Boot Camp yet, you can ask your Recruiter for guidance and make sure your ASVAB scores are good enough for the desired program.

Well, I wont be going to boot camp. Im an OSVET.

8 years Marine Infantry with 1 tour in Iraq (Fallujah-Operation Phantom Fury) and 2 deployments under the belt along with a B Billet as an Marine Security Guard. Been doing contracting overseas in Baghdad and Afghanistan for the past year and half.

So I take it a couple of days into training, I simply inform one of my Instructors of my intentions?
