Well, it is the first day of the new daily routine here at NHCS...I know that it will be successful and we will see a vast improvement of the quality of product that we put out!

I know you will. I remember the camaraderie there used to be when we had the class structure.
What the students don't understand or fail to remember is :::
WE ARE AT WAR!!
We are not at CorpsSchool to party like it was 1999...
Gear up for the mission that might save themselves, their shipmates or their Marines..
I think it will get better once the people who were under the old way have graduated and you are getting people straight from boot.
Good Luck!

Yesterday wasn't too bad. An inordinate number of liberty-log violators, and by inordinate, I mean 159! I guess they just wanted to get one last hoorah in before the hammer dropped. Pity.other than that, there wasn't much complaining ( from what I heard).

HM1,
It's funny how I still hear stuff over there..
:p
The only complaints I heard were from the squared away folks who had to deal with the numbskulls out there last night I.e taking over 30 minutes to do a muster etc..
Could you imagine in a Man overboard moment it taking so damn long to get a accurate Head count?
As the Ship keeps steaming forward..
Hope they can do the modified Dog Paddle..

Pegasus...you hear anything today? I have been sitting here listening to some real logical arguments about how bad things have gotten today...I mean some of it is true bitching but some of the horror stories (and yes I respect the people I am hearing it from) are just crazy...
what do you think?

Well, you just have to look at the "big picture". What is our mission? To make the best quality product for the fleet that we can. By implementing the current changes, we are getting back in line with what the rest of the fleet and other training commands are doing. We expect alot more from the Corpsmen and we as instructors take our job very seriously. I am sure that you have heard at some point that we are "training our replacements" and that is very important to us. Sure, we have good times, but you never can forget what the mission is. We, as Corpsmen, have a very important job and most students cannot fathom the amount of responsibility we have out in the fleet. Blue or green. That is why we need mature individuals. Somewhere in the process previously, our standards suffered and we sent Corpsmen out who had no business being in the Navy, let alone medicine. We are getting back to the way things need to be. This A school should be a filter, not a pipeline, to make sure the graduates are something we can be proud of. Once the student body who is here graduates, the current issues should be resolved, since the new classes won't know anything different.

I'm glad the changes have been put into place. There will be a few bumps along the way, but NHCS is surely headed in the right direction. HOO RAH.

Well, I have to say that since we have implemented the changes, we have seen a positive effect...test failures are the LOWEST they have been in a LONG time! We are attributing this to the fact that the instructors are actually teaching the students now and they aren't "orbiting" the schoolhouse. So far, so good!

Excellent!
pegasusHM
09-10-2007, 10:37
Well, test failures continue to be on the downward slope, and DE's are on the upward slope...both of which are good news. The DEs because we want to have student here who WANT to be here. It is all about passion, folks. This is a lifestyle, not a job!

Good news. Rah.
Out.
Ooh Rah my class was the first class to have no test failures in a single test. We got noticed by EVERYBODY, free baggles and everything. But I just took test 5 today, doing really well so far. I made EPO after test one, and I got a 91, 90, 84(didn't study enough due to SIQ from wisdom teeth and then labor day weekend :( ), and now a 93. So i'm having fun and learning alot, alot is review from lifeguard training as of now, can't wait to get into the more advanced stuff. Pegasus are you an instructor at the school house?

You could say that...you just have to figure out which one....

Well, I hope that all students will be wearing their "racing stripes" from now on, as the CMC has instructed us to take lib-o cards and phase down all those who do not comply....so if you have it, wear it!

Actually that refers to the BI, not the clearance, but are you trying to say you worked at the White House or just went cruising with the CIC?

Chief,
The CMC decided that he was tired of almost taking out students in the early morning hours, so to remedy this, he has all students during hours of darkness wear a reflective belt...a.k.a. racing stripe. Seems to work...no students hit yet.;)

Racing Stripe? Whatever happened to Anti-Train belt, Retard Belt, Power Ranger belt? Think it had another name too.... Me, personally? It was my anti train belt. I heard it would stop a train dead in its track should I decide to try and hi-5 an oncomming train... like..somebody..
Still don't know what instructor HMpegasus is .... kinda curios... Ohwell.

Psshhh. I'm not even sure what my security clearance is : P
Was cleared to be a nuke, then denied to be a nuke because some ...... who didn't even know me said I 'wasn't motivated enough to make it through nuke school'
Nuke recruiter > me :(
Pegasus, a winged horse that was the son of Poseidon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poseidon), in his role as horse-god, and the Gorgon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorgon) Medusa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medusa).
.....Pegasos is still associated with this original significance by carrying the thunderbolts for Zeus.
...a warrior arriving at battle by air...
...the god of lightning...
Pegasus is awesome, he is part man, part God who carries the lighenting bolts of Zeus and is the son of Poseidon who is God of the sea, horses, and "Earth-Shaker," of earthquakes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthquake).
All I know, is you DON'T want to mess around with this one!
PegasusHM is the one wearing a mask at the school house so you don't know who he is ROFL

You might say that I have a greater effect than you might think on every student that attends the school.
The son of Poseidon hath spoken; students pay heed!

lol you might get to stay in 131 if your lucky, you will be put in charge of the duty roster, you wont have to stand in ranks during muster, and you will be a red badge in slass, but other then that probobly nothing....not really anything to look forward too but a massive headache and a bunch of disrespect from booters!
ROFL corminup - too funny and probably closer to the truth than we would like to admit
Yeah I kinda figured pegasus. So, in retrospect I ask... did you know me? : p
Yeah I figured the disrespect.. already thinking of different ways to take care of things like that... butyou know what corminup i do have something to look forward to.. core school.. i love being able to work the medical side of the house. working on an EMS degree well the pre-req's for it for my second career. I will deal with the BS and hopefully help a couple of the students through and mentor them.

Why do the booters give fleet returnees disrespect? Makes no sense.

Ok first lesson of "core" school is calling it "CORPS" school.....lol just messing with you. The booters give FR's disrespect mainly b/c they look at them like students instead of like mentors. Just go in level headed and dont try and change the world, focus more on your studies and let the shipwrecks ween themselves out!

My hubby is up there, maybe someone can help him out....
I do have one question for anyone can anwser, When will I get hes orders?. This class is the 2nd week in June to grat?
I don't think he will be getting his orders until closer to the end of Corps School - he has a LONG way to go before grad - don't worry i'm sure he will call you as soon as he knows where he is going :)

There was more respect from booters than most Fleet Returnees when I went through. Some Fleet Returnees forget they are a student, as well, regardless of the rank at times. However, they are a higher rank so you have to respect that rank.

Exactly, I've heard that some fleet returnees come on board NHCS acting like they have 20 years experience in the fleet, cocky and full of themselves.

God I hate those people. Had some of them when I went through IT A school. I just steered clear of them.

We called them "Sea Lawyers".

Roger that... lolz.. sorry about that.. Been in schools with the "fleet returnees" that think they are god, told myself i would never be one of those. I plan to focus on the studies and help to the best of my ability, i am going to be swamped my self though so no worries. Definitely have to avoid that sea lawyer crap. If you do not have a pub/paperwork to back it up you just don't talk about it. All of you are a great group of people and myself along with others definitely thank you for all the help and mentorship you are providing to the fleet. If only more people were involved in things like this there might be a little less confusion and more guidance (plus a little dumbing down of know it alls). Still waiting to hear from the 8401 detailer if i am allowed to go due to manning but i am hoping that everything works out! In the meantime working on the dual warfare to keep the evals looking good maybe help with the EP in combination with all the other hard work. Talk to yall soon.:not:

Going back in as a reservist. Which means, no time to be cocky, only time to get the job done and go back to what I was doing.
Getting my EMT-B before hand should help out with passing all my stuff.
