Greetings all!

I was hoping i might get some useful info and/or advice this:

I am nearly 42 y.o. and have been out of the Navy since early 1991. I was a QM2 at that time, active duty.

In the last six years or so, i've been working as an EMT(b) as a professional ski patroller and rafting guide. Over the last couple years i've been seriously thinking about going in the reserves as an HM.

I've been talking to recruiters over the last year and have been informed that if i should choose to do so, i could enter the reserves as an HM2, most likely with a Seabee unit in Oregon.

So, here are the questions:

Does that sound like a good idea? Is being a Seabee HM a good gig? Are there bonuses? Am i too old and out of the Navy life to get back in effectively?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
mark

I say follow your heart. You already know what's expcted physically. Is your body prepared for the daily physical toil involved? Follow your heart, but make sure your heart can handle the stress!

Good on ya.
Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks to being a pro ski patroller, i'm probably in better shape than i've ever been in. It's not just skiing, but lots of high-altitude climbing and dealing with horrible weather.

I was stationed with the Seabees in Gulfport. I was spoil by the Marines. A lot of admin. That was a while back. When I got out active and went reserve, I was attached to a Seabee reserve unit. I couldn't get into it. They were nothing like a I was used too.
