Puck,

I just heard yesterday that a Marine from Minnesota died of multiple strokes as a result of his combat wounds.

I would like to stand with the PGR at his service.

Where can I find info on him? I can't remember his name as I only heard it on the radio once yesterday.

DOCHopeful-

check PGR website. As soon as DOD releases the name (after family notification) it will be under "Pending missions" on the far right hand side of the website www.patriotguard.org (http://www.patriotguard.org)

Sometimes the media is quick to put a blurb out, but we won't post til the DOD tells us they made notification. We don't want family finding out by our overzealouseness instead of proper channels.

Once the family has been contacted by PGR and invites us, it will move to "Confirmed Missions" . In the even the family declines to have us there, it will say STAND DOWN under the "Pending Missions".

I would suggest going to the website and joining PGR then send an email to your state Ride Captain asking to be put on the state wide email list for notifications.

I will try to post HM and Marine missions here as I can but it would be easier to not duplicate and just ask folks to check the web site of PGR. O/W we will eat uop all DA chiefs space in cyberville!!!

DOCHOPEFUL ---

The marine in question is from Norht Branch Minnesota. His mission is still listed as pending on the PGR site. This means we in the PGR have recieved DOD notification, and the CACO and family have been notified of our desire to mount up on a mission of escort in his support.

When a mission is pending it means we have not as yet been invited by the family. The family will let us know via CACO (casualty assistance ) as to their wishes. If they green light us, the mission moves to the Confirmed Mission section.

Keep an eye on this mission LCPL Jonathan Benson , North Branch Minn

This mission has moved to the "Confirmed Mission" Please when you return home from it Hopeful, please write out a mission report. What it was like from your eyes and heart. Thigs that stick out, how many bikes were there, townsfolk along the road etc.

Would ya do that for us here?

I tried and tried to get time off from work to attend his service. I knew there was little or no hope of me being able to go. :( The boss said no as there was no one to fill in for me.

I read the reports on the PGR site and you can't help but get that weight in the bottom of your heart and the feeling that the tear might fall at any moment.

God bless Corporal Benson and his family!

When a mission happens that Ican not attend, I actually feel guity. Just a thing inside of me. My time now will be limited to two off days a week which will alternate. If a mission comes up on those days, I will attend.

No one wants you to get fired for a mission ride. If you can go, do so, if not we all understand.Very few of us are able to make every mission that comes up. Your heart's in the right place. that's all we can expect.

Thanks for trying and welcome to PGR, please post a ride report when you finish your first mission.
