I took an earlier ship date and was signed to a contract on the understanding that by being an HMDA(Dental Assistant)that I could still go FMF and be a LINE Corpsman assigned to a Marine rifle company or something like that with USMC Infantry, MAR DIV so on and so forth. However I am now at NHCS and have been told that I will not get to do what I was told I would because I'm dental. They say that I'm still able to go FMF however I will not see combat. I'll be assigned to a dental battlion and sent to the rear with the gear.
I'm contracted dental, but I am told that it can be dropped. If someone could tell me how to do so I would appreite it. All I want is to be with the Marines in the sandbox.

I don't have much real info to pass on changing your contract...
But some options to think about:
Talk to a dive motivator, pass the test, go MARSOC....
Complete the training, excel in everything, and network yourself & services (units will often find a way to latch on to outstanding Docs motivated to serve)
Ask for a field hosp after FMTB, insist on deploying then volunteer for missions outside the wire or to rotate in with line units (units tend to like extra Doc's and may let you "joy ride" on convoys/patrols. You might also be able to get yourself into the mission rotation schedule which will increase the labor pool and give the line Docs more rest/down-time between missions)
Keep volunteering for IA opportunities with USMC (FMF Docs are always in need)
Do more personal research and homework before signing your next adult contract.
Talk to the CCC, military advisor, academic advisor, &/or CMDCM for better gouge and more options.
Request Mast and plead your case....

1) I've been trying to get a request chit to go talk to the captain and student control. They keep denying me the chit with stand by or something to that effect.
2) I have talked to the dive Mo, however they are in a bit of a confusion right now. With all of the new regs and programs they are trying to institute up here they are having to reset alot of the schedules. He doesn't have a key to the pool anymore and they are on rainchecks for try outs. So that op. is on hold.
3) I'm exploring the blue to green program, DD 368. So any info would help there, yes I want to fight that bad.
4) DA is not considered an NEC, it is an extentsion of A school.....it does but it doesn't count as a C school, call me crazy but I don't even know how to explain it.

You are requesting a Request Chit? Why don't you just download one off the web yourself?
Are you requesting to talk to the Captain, requesting to drop DA, or requesting to go 8404?
If it is not on paper (chit, memo, email, etc) that you tried to do something, then you haven't tried to do anything.

DA is an NEC. It's 8701. Trust me, I know.

Shipmate,
The only person who can deny you talking to the CO, is the CO. If someone is doing this, the COC needs to be notified.
I know CAPT Parker and he will have someones "ASS" if he finds this out.
Also ask to talk to HMCM Hemmenway. (CMC)
