Ok I am a geek. But I was also in the Navy for 24 years. I used to love to run, Go out and "PAAAATY" etc.. But after or around 22 years. I started to have Aches and Pains that I never had before..

I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. As Dr. Malik put it to me;

"Chief, you have served admirably for 22 years. It's time to take care of yourself." And he got to the bottom of my Ill's..

Why do I put this here? Because I know my fellow Devil Doc's.. Never one to admit a ache or pain etc. Fight through it to take care of the mission.

Well part of your mission it to take care of You as well as your family.

What does this mean? It means getting a PE to see what is up with you.

I am going to put this blunt as I can. I knew a Master Chief back in 1986 back at NAS Dallas who was the first Active Duty person I knew who died.. He died from Colo-Rectal Cancer. He had been bleeding for up to a year prior to finally coming in when he passed out in his bathroom at home and his kids found him. He died 6 weeks later. Nothing could be done.

Get Checked If need be.

But get educated as well.. I have enclosed a Youtube Video that is 49:21 Long.. Please Please If you have the time watch. Or if you are a Doc.. And you have lost sight of what it is like to be the PT.. Watch it as well.. It is very Very Informative.

Thanks for the heads up Chief- I'll be 41 in 2 months and I'll be in the sandbox, I gotta keep remembering that I'm fast approaching mid-life and want very much to extend it as much as possible :)

I ensure that my wife and I have annual physical examinations with blood tests. People who are age 50 and over should incorporate a colonoscopy and males the Prostrate US Ultrasound.

Colon and Prostrate cancer is far to common to ignore, yet some of the easiest to cure if caught early. An ounce of prevention .......................

My only question is, why is it clinics always have a beautiful young female technician to do the Prostrate US ultrasound procedure? Suffice to say, I was a little nervous last week, when I saw her with this, "full speed ahead" smile and this long wand in her hand.

rut row!

OUCH Tony....sounds like you had more than a Prostrate US Ultrasound coming your way.......what did the "Long Wand" as you stated look like?

P.S. Hey Indy.....I like your thoughts on the "MY LEG" that was discontinued.....it sounds like you were either a I.D.C., Sick Call Corpsman or just really know your stuff....I was impressed by the DX you gave, just as long as people realize that as a HM you are NOT a M.D. or Ph.D.

But your SOAP notes of the case study is what I see working with the athletes and Sports Medicine.....and they were inciteful and helpful.

Keep up the great work, and stay away from those "Young Beautiful Women" Tony!

Thanks, YardDog, not an IDC, but spent a tour as a baby doc on a small boy so learned a helluva lot - that and I just finished my degree in Sport & Health Sciences with a concentration in Sports Med. I'm nowhere close to being an MD (nor do I really want to be, to tell you the truth, way too much school...and loans to pay back :) ) but I've spent a few years in the fitness game now, and am happy to pass along what I've learned...with the caveat that folks realize I'm not a Medical Doctor, and shouldn't be substituted for one.
