I am currently a basic Xray tech. I wanted to put in my package to advanced, my CCC told me that they are not excepting packages until APRIL of 08. Can anyone confirm or deny that?
DocSteen;
That may be due to the next available class scheduling, funds available for the school etc.. This should not stop you from putting together your package though. Just wait to submit it until April 08. I would also check with the xray school itself and verify if what the detailer told you.
This school is very competitive to get into. Out of 530 or so applicants Navy wide, only 130 or so were accepted for the next class.
They will want to verify your transcripts for either high school or college depending on what you have graduated from or attended. They want to ensure you have the academic savvy in math.
Make sure you keep copies of everything that you are including within your package! It happened to my son, that documents were lost. If I hadn't been so quick on the draw and obtaining, faxing said documents again to him, he could have lost his seat for the school.
If something is wrong with your package, they do not call you and notify you of that. So you have to keep in contact with whomever approves the packages. This happened to my son and other applicants. Use your chain of command!
I believe you also have to submit letters of recommendations with your package.
Check out the requirements for this school and how to complete a successful package. Your command should be able to assist with this.
Be advised, you may have to extend your enlistment to ensure you have sufficient time left after graduating xray school to satisfy, I believe, three years of service after the school. This is what my son had to do. Additionally, extending your contract, DOES NOT guarantee you acceptance to this school. It's a 50/50 chance.
How bad do you want it? Then proceed full speed ahead!
Best of luck to you.
