I'd like to come back into Navy. I got out in June of 99. Started serving in the reserve while I went to School. Dad was diagnosed with cancer, and I was the primary care giver, chauffeur, to and from appointments. I dropped out of school and called in every month to the reserve base. He died after less than a month of hospice care. 2 months later, my mom was diagnosed with cancer as well. Same routine except she has fully recovered.
Now I'd like to return, but I have a bad report from my reserve unit. I've spoken with a recruiter. I explained that I could bringpaperwork to corroboratemy story. He says it could prove to be difficult, and that possibly the CMC of the Joint Reserve Base would write a letter for my approval.
All my time was spent as a Greenside Corpsman with 1stMARDIV 2/7 Marine Btn, and 7th Marine Regiment. Although I don't regret it, I'd prefer tobe stationed stateside or overseas. I've never really had the chance to know the Navy outside of the Marine Corps.
