Another fun SoCal event for kids of all ages and the price is right too. -FREE- The whole family will have something to enjoy and as a special treat for the kids, youngsters ages 8-17 will have the opportunity to experience a free flight. Depending upon seating, and desire, some kids will have the opportunity to actually fly the aircraft. (tell a friend)

Static displays, fly-overs, demonstrations, opportunities to fly, and lots of fun....!!

The sixth annual "Wings, Wheels and Rotors Expo" will be held this Sunday, October 28, at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos. Admission and parking to the show are free but you will need a photo ID to enter the active military installation. Event hours are from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

This family-oriented program will feature a wide variety of military, civilian, corporate, and public agency aircraft. Add to this a major car show with more than 650 custom, antique, classic, hot rods plus trucks, motorcycles and customized bicycles; along with 150 vendors, two food courts, a kids corner and two stages for live entertainment!

Early military and current front line attack helicopters. Your favorite news media "eye in the sky" choppers that bring you the Breaking News reports. Helicopters from Orange and Los Angeles County law enforcement and fire agencies. A collection of war birds that saw action defending our country in prior conflicts, plus the modern Army, Air Force and Marine war planes that are currently seeing action. Four F-18 fighter jets will roar into the show, making a pass or two at key times. A huge Boeing C-17 Globemaster will be on display. The Marine Corps CH-53 Super Stallion will be part of this years show. Get your picture taken with the MQ-1 Predator UAV. The Goodyear Blimp, "Spirit of America" will again pay a visit and there will be a fundraising auction at the main stage for an opportunity to ride on the blimp. More than 20 “War Birds” from World War II fame and planned displays of an F-18, an Apache Attack helicopter, a T-6 and a P-51 Mustang, along with dozens of other aircraft,

A whole group of Miniature Warbirds with also be displayed and conduct flight demonstrations. These are not the small hobby-type, rather they are radio-controlled scale model replica's in exacting detail that have wing spans of eight to ten feet in length of the planes that flew in World War II and other conflicts.

The Kid’s Corner will offer interactive activities, from building airplanes from wood to a coloring contest where prizes will be awarded. A BMX Extreme Stunt Show will take place nearby. The “Young Eagles Program” <http://www.youngeagles.org> will give youngsters from age 8 to 17 an opportunity to learn more about aviation, inspect and pre-flight check a plane, and then go airborne for a 10 minute flight around the Los Alamitos skies .… and it is all FREE!! Ten planes will be offering this service from the Experimental Aircraft Association. Weather permitting, they will start early and fly all day with the exception of pre-determined field closure times for other scheduled events. Those who are able to take the Young Eagles flight will receive an official certificate, signed by their personal pilot and the Chairman of the Young Eagles program, Harrison Ford.

In addition, the first 4,000 youngsters who attend the free show will be given small American Flags. All visitors will receive a special event map and guide, being prepared by the LB Press Telegram and the News Enterprise. The 40th Infantry Marching Band will parade through the show playing patriotic marches and music. The Los Alamitos High School Band has also been invited to participate in the afternoon.

For a small nominal charge, adult guests and other family members will have the opportunity to take a short flight in a helicopter with Silver State Helicopters. Silver State will bring three Robinson 44 helicopters to allow up to three passengers per flight. They’ll even have a helicopter flight simulator available for those who don’t wish to go airborne but still want to experience the thrill.

Camera's are a MUST for the many photographic opportunities. Comfortable shoes (preferably closed toes), hearing protection for the little one's, sunscreen, and a hat are a good idea too.
