Every day I come to this site and see the list of forums grow and grow. While I am not saying this would be a bad thing if we had a lot more users, I feel the specificity of the forums really detracts from them. I feel that if you had more general topics for the forums that the posts would increase due to the simple fact that people would see another post with replies instead of the few each individual forum has. Just my 2 cents.

Indolence:

Corpsman.com is constantly evolving, in order to better meet the needs of it's members. A while back, the forums were streamlined in order to help posters navigate the site.

This site does have various 'forums' but they are necessary, as they cover a variety of topics. If this site only had 3 or 4 'general' forums, you would find many posts covering many different topics. It would be very difficult to navigate through, trying to find information on a given topic.

Also, stay tuned for a major change to corpsman.com as Da-Chief updates the site to version 3.0 or 3.2, can't remember which. Many more new functions and yet even easier to navigate.

I agree with Indolence. There are a lot of forums which clutter the board and some are so rarely used...

I'm all for organization but it seems a little top heavy.

8404: I am not saying that the specific forums don't have a use in many cases, however if you look at the entertainment section you will see my point. Movies, TV shows, videogames, and books could all easily be made into one viable forums instead of 4 that limp along. They have a suggestion forum and a feedback forum, doubling up on the same thing. The simple adding of something such as an off topic forum could alleviate the need for many of these and possibly help the site. I am not saying this just to seem whiny. Far from it, I greatly enjoy this site and would like nothing more than to see it grow, but with the amount of people that post each day I feel they have far too many spread out areas to post in. I have helped run forum based sites in the past, I am just saying what my experience has taught me. I guess I'm up to 4 cents now ;-)

Agreed Indolence:

This has probably already been addressed, but we won't see the changes until this site converts to version 3.0. It is my understanding this site will be on a different platform and will look entirely different from what we are seeing today.

The conversion should be happening very soon.

lol love the 4 cents reference.

Ok..
Take this with a grain of salt as I am just coming off of a migrane..

We do not have a board just for Indolence, Citrus or Corpsman 77. All of you of which are in the military or about to be in.

We also host to Vets, Parent's Spouses Active Duty seeking C-Schools etc..

You have to look outside of "YOUR" Blinders. I am looking at several different Sects out there that We cater to.

If you don't like what we have.. Go to Military.com. Try reading something there or researching something there.

Truth is we already streamlined like 8404 said. It really is not that hard to navigate here. We use Key words etc. When you jump into a conversation, you can have V BULLETIN keep you up and track what your involved in.

Might I ask maybe you want a better "HOW TO"? for our site?

Step up to the plate also and think about helping out. Right now you have "1" Guy trying to persuse all the forums. What I would like is to have someone like say a "RECRUITER" who can answer recruiting questions, or say a "Career Counselor" who could answer "A-SCHOOL" Questions and so on.

But to come here and throw "CRAP" against the wall and leave it at that.. Well that just pisses me off to know end.. The best Quote I got in over 24 years of service came from:
CDR Teresa Snow...

"Don't come to my office with a problem unless you have a solution or want to be a part of the solution!"

What have you done to help support Corpsman.com of late? (Excluding you 8404 I know you help out daily!). I get people who throw crap out like this (Make fun of my Bears!) and then leave.

Hell yeah there is a lot we would like to do, but honestly.. this place is working on a "SHOE STRING" budget, no one clicks, no one supports this place and to be quite frank, it is starting to get depressing.

I am off my soap box now..

Have a good week.

Not trying to step on toes here chief, but in my very little bit of criticism here I did offer an attempted solution to the problem I saw. Cutting down on the forums which double up. I am sorry if you got offended by this, and if I knew a damn thing about coding I would be more than happy to help. Hell, if there is anything I can do to help please let me know, but I still say, and still believe, that having a plethora of unused forums is not effective. If nothing else the entertainment section can be streamlined to say "Entertainment: Books, TV Shows, Movies and Video Games!"

I am sorry I used to feedback forum to try and help, my mistake, it wont happen again.

Then like I said. Where possible, streamline forums, itll cut the space you have to use.

Indolence,
I find the above quote to be helpful in stream lining. These the type of things we need. If you would like to take a stabe at stream lining the forums, please look at them and email me or Da'Chief an outline of how you think it would work better. Then we can visually see what you are talking about and maybe change the way we do it. Hope you understand, I'm the coder around here and user input is a very valuable tool because we want to make things better for the users.

I challange you to typing your vision of the forums in a text/word document and submitting it to us. We are not unwilling to change.

Thanks,

Da-Chief

Indolence,
Other then you being a LSU fan..(And making fun of my bears and my Wolverines) I have nothing against you. What I am or was trying to get across and maybe could have been better at, was trying to imply that give us suggestions.

I just got done re-doing the whole forum area about 2 months ago, Folks liked it and commented to such. But that is not saying there isn't a better way to skin a cat. (And knowing your in LA You guys eat everything roadkill!) So please help us make a new paradigm.

Thanks!
