Hello,
I am new to the Navy Reserves( my first drill is this Sat.) I am prior service Army (11B1P airborne infantry) I am now HM3 with the reserves (when I got out of the army I became a firefighter so that is partially how i got the rating (?) due to my emergency medicine experience I also received some combat lifesaver training in the Army which helped grease the skids.

Enough babbling about myself, My ? was what options are there for me to do within the HM rating? I know about FMF (is that the right way of saynig it? I am still getting used to the Navy terms Head= latrine etc.) and I think that is what I want to do at first, but are there any other options for me like search and rescue type stuff, anything really just so I know what is out there.

like I said I am really leaning towards the Marines feild medic school, I think I would enjoy that and my experience in the Army (infantry) would help, plus I would rather be in the feild than a hospital if I had the choice.
thanks

F)ield M)edical T)raining B)attalion is for you if you want to be in the field with the USMC. Best damn job in the Navy.

What did you want to know about it?

Just wanted to know, where is the school located? How long is it? that is really it, like I said I was infantry before and would rather be in the feild than indoors.

thanks

There are 2 schools, FMTB East (Camp Lejeune, NC) and FMTB West (Camp Pendleton, CA). They are 11 weeks long, both academically and physically intensive.

I have a couple videos on this site. Go ahead and check them out. They show where I went, FMTB East.

Thanks for the intel guys, today was my first drill, I got a few things to do before I can get to FMTB ( I have to take some sort of corpsman test E3-E4 type thing and it sounds like it is going to be quite some time till i even get uniforms).

The HM1 I spoke with about it kinda made it sound like a difficult school to get, but I think I will find out whose ass I need to be a pain in and not shut up till I get it (respectfully of course!)

have a good one

What the Army calls MOS, the Navy calls NEC. Here are most of the NEC's Doc's can go after
