I'm getting ready to go active duty from the reserves (to regular USN and not FTS). I'm going in as an HM3... reporting to Great Lakes to TPU, for who knows how long.
Anyway, I'm curious about how easy it will be to obtain single BAH without dependents as an E4? I'm curious because I currently live on my own with a buttload of personal property. Enough stuff to fill a 2 bedroom house/apt, and 3 vehicles (well two vehicle and a motorcycle).
Is it possible? Should I look for storage somewhere, or should I have a yard sale?:?

If you are at a school command, you will not get BAH, if you are stationed at Great Lakes then the above link will show your BAH level.

I'm thinking more or less when I get to my PDS. I talked with a buddy at Lejeune, and he says its hard for E4 and below to get it, but he had household goods... same as me. But he made E5 anyway, so it was a moot point.

Shipmate,
All depneds on the command. The rule is E4-below unless barracks are 90% manned you will be in the barracks..
But not every commnad follows that rule..
Hope this helps..

Still in the air about what to do with all my belongings. I guess I'll have to put them in storage... my other option would be to rent a Uhaul, but I don't think I'll have that much money to tote all the stuff around, since my time at TPU is uncertain. :?
Any suggestions? And don't think I'm gonna throw a Corpsman.com BBQfrom the money gained in a yard sale. lol;)

If I were you here is what I would do,
Keep what you have in storage, Transfer, find out if you can bring it, you then can still get it shipped via TMO.
or, sell it all and provide the amount to Corpsman.com
;)

Doc Hayes,
I do have to say that in my 9 years in Lejeune Area, it is tough on E-4 and below to live out in town. Again, if you are going to 2D Mar Div it will be harder for you to move out in town. If you go to 2D MLG it may be slightly, and I mean slightly, easier to move out in town. At 2D MAW one of my E4 couldn't live out in town because we had to many vaccant rooms in be BEQ. Though remember this you can ask and all they can tell you is no.
