Newby waiting for a ship date

Hello all my name is Seth and im a 21 year old country boy from out in the stix pa..i just recently went through meps and am now waiting for a call from my recruiter with a ship date so i can get underway in my journey 2 becoming a Corpsman! My goal's so far are 2 become part of the FMF but really dont know what that is gonna consist of as far as qualifying for that role and my recruiter is saying that its up 2 me after A-School that if i wanna go with a marine crew then i just say but im havin a hard time believein that..so i guess what im askin is how do they decide what docs go where?

Seth:

FMTB = Field Medical Training Battalion, and is where a Corpsman goes to train as a Navy Enlistment Classification, NEC of 8404. You have to have this classification in order to go FMF with the Marines. This school is generally done after Corpsman school, however you may be assigned elsewhere to await an opening. It depends on budgets, class seat availability and the needs of the Navy.

Additionally, attending this school, (FMTB) does not guarantee you going FMF. It all depends on the needs of the Navy.

Hello guys OK so the names Olson im 21 yrs old and i swore in 09/28/07.... my current ship date is 4/14/2008. And i cant wait to leave! But i have a dilema, so lets make a long story short i swore in HM after talking to the recruiters some more i got intrested in nuke, enough said i qualified for nuke switched over cause i saw the $$$ signs and now i know that wont make me happy cause i would get extremly bored pushing buttons and watchings switch boards all day so now im switching back to corpsman (HM) . thats a mouth full lol ..... but my question to any one that can help is i've heard many different things about HM bonus'. dont get me wrong moneys not my only reason, but we all like more money ! IS there any bonus' currently offered for an Active HM? :) Also, I wanna go FMF thats my main motivation and what my heart is set on. Is it possible to contract FMF ? PLZ HELP THANK YOU SO MUCH !

First off, don't apologize for taking your time on important decisions that will impact the rest of your life and income. We all understand. Especially in this day and age with our economy and dollar struggling.
