hello everyone. I am currently waiting for my Doc to come home from his deployment. He will be gone for another 6 months. I thought I would look around on the web and I found this awesome site. Not much to say besides that. Thanks to those who have served, are serving or who will be serving. You and your families are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourselves!

Doc is an HM3, currently attached to the 2/24 CEB in Iraq. He is normally a reservist out in Maryland. I am not sure which base he is normally at out there, sorry. He is from the Philippines and has been in the US about 5 years now. He is 25 and a great guy who I met through a friend of mine in the Marines. Doc was my friends doc until he volunteered for this mission. I think that he is planning on staying out in MD after we get hitched, so I will be moving out there with him. I am from Michigan, about 45 minutes north of Muskegon. He has been adopted by my hometown and our wedding will be here. I think that is about it. If you want to know anything else, just ask!

Thank you so much everyone for the warm welcome. I look forward to the BS. Take care!
I love lumpia!
Was in the Philippines in 1974.
Manila, Cebu, Bagio, San Fernando, and Subic Bay.

Lumpia and chicken adobo. Those are two awesome dishes. I had the privilege to drive around Arlington before eating at a Filipino restaurant on a road trip from Michigan to Maryland with my Doc. How did you like the Philippines, besides the good food?
I forgot about chicken adobo. Yes, both excellent dishes.
We used to get into a cab and tell the driver to drive until he didn't see anymore Americans.
We were let out about 45 minutes to an hour or so away from the base and there was this nice lil town. We found a Mexican restaurant, and the day we first visited there, it was the owners wedding anniversary. We celebrated with them and applauded etc... Ever since that day, whenever we showed up, we couldn't spend any money there whatsoever. A truly wonderful, giving people.
I loved the tropical beauty of it all. I liked going up into the mountains and you could experience the wonderful views.
We visited, a school in Cebu and for my first time, saw what the Tagalog language looked like in their text books. It looks very similar to the Spanish language. For instance, February was Pebrero in Tagalog and in Spanish it's Febrero. I was still lost though, even knowing some Spanish. lol
Had an apartment off base, 82 East Jones Street, Olongapo City.
How about those crocodiles? They had this one bar down Magsaysay drive that had an alligator pit in front. Not real big, perhaps 7 feet long and four feet wide, 3.5 feet deep. While inebriated, we used to half climb over the rod iron, 2 to 3 foot fence, in front of the bar and wiggle our feet and legs at it.
The gator was old, but he could still move fairly quickly. Crazy stuff that I wouldn't dream of doing again. Yikes..............

We are planning a trip there after the wedding when he has some leave...I am looking forward to all of the sights and FOOD to be found there. As for the gator...you would do it again, don't kid yourself. lol.
ha ha ha ha lmao
Yea, after a hearty portion of those iced cold San Miguel's you're probably right! Dayum she knows us already! ha ha ha
Although, I don't think my 52 year old body could move faster than the aged gator these days. He might win this time and I'd pull back a stump. Corpsman up..........."Gee, what happened to you Marine"? "Don't ask Doc". ha ha ha
However, I only drink milk now...

You must have forgotten the 3 things that happen when Marines get together...they break something, eat something or lose something. I learned quick when I met Doc's guys out at 29 palms. I had to in self defense. A great group of guys, let me tell you. Hard to not like them.
errrr, well....I confess....they also drink something. that would be 4 things. lol

They do know how to drink, even if it is some of the worst smelling beer in the world.
Worst smelling, do you mean San Miguel, say it isn't so.

That was perfume to a Marines nose.

nope, not that one, but something that looked almost the same in a glass bottle that smelled almost as bad as it tasted. The Marines even scowled when they drank it. It was quite a sight, seeing a Marine scowl while drinking beer.
welcome doc v's future wife - nice you found us - make sure to tell DocV about us and get his butt in here too if he isn't already :)
I'm from the Lansing area myself - if you happen to be coming down this way let me know we can have coffee.

Thanks for the warm welcome DeeDee. He doesn't have internet access right now since he is visiting the big sandbox, but when he gets a chance, I will make sure he finds you guys. I am heading to Lansing on the 13-14th of March...I go to MEPS for the 'chair force' as a nurse. This is the last test before the SG gets the rest of my paperwork and decides if they need MORE paperwork and tests. So, we will have to see how the schedule works out for that, but meeting for coffee sounds great. Take care and thanks again everyone for the warm welcome. The support is greatly appreciated.
