The Carolina Panthers released center Justin Hartwig, the latest in a series of offseason moves to makeover their offensive line. The move, which clears about $2 million in salary-cap space, came after the coaching staff decided Ryan Kalil would replace Hartwig as the starter in 2008. "We had decided to go in another direction at center and Justin would have been able to come in and compete for the starting spot at right guard," general manager Marty Hurney said.
