View Full Version : Quick question
I have glanced through a few threads and seen "NPSB" laid out on the table a few times, and each time I read it the word bonus is somewhere nearby. This is all in conjunction with FMSS which I am very interested in. Now, I am far from greedy, but hey, anything to squash the last of my student loans is fantastic to me.
Is NPSB a reserve only program? Are there any simliar programs for those electing for active duty (5 year OBLIGOR program or some such correct?). I am DEP'ing right nowfor the HM program and am just trying to geek upsome more before I ship.
Oh and since Im gunning for FMF, does the Navy gaurantee FMSS or any C school for that matter to eligible DEP'ers?

Hey
Believe it or not they have a program for 5 year active people that pays back student loans. Ask about it.., or like you said the NPSB has 20k but is a Reserve only program.
They do have a student loan thing though for active as I have seen many students with it in their contracts..

All the bonuses and stuff... Kinda feel like I'm getting shafted just going active duty.

I would like to know the same thing. Why do reserves get a bonus and active are getting shafted?
Doc Hayes, back when I was active in the day . We felt like we were getting shafted back then to, by the reserves. There wasn't many bonuses, but making rate was faster. See some things never change just the characters. Still we made the best of it and had a blast.

Ah thank you very much for the clarification. I figured NPSB would be a reserve only program, almost seems unfair that the active duty sailors dont get it but it makes perfect sense to offer it to attract people to where they need more, so no pising and moaning out of me. I dont have much in student loans, maybe 2400 after 3 years of school? Not as bad as plenty of other people out there.
But hey, the navy does not allow c schools to be included in enlistment gaurantees? Logically it would be contingent upon you passing your A school etc etc.
I am looking at my contract here and I have guaranteed A school and navy college fund and thats it. No bonus for me haha, and I even asked if there was one.
