I have questions. How do you handle the deployments? I am having issues with my Doc. The issues aren't the small stuff that can crop up, like sending something in the next package. Things are crazy and I am wondering if the deployment time ever gets easier or if this is how it is always going to be. I know that we need to work through things so I am sticking it out but I guess I am not getting enough from Doc. I knew things would be hard, but goodness, I didn't realize that it would be weeks between calls, or that he would be so...different when he calls. I can't imagine what he is going through right now and I guess I just don't know that now is the best time to ask him for more supportive comments when he calls home. I love him, and am hoping that things get better after he is home again but any suggestions about the deployment will really help. Sorry about the heavy comments, just am hoping to learn that I am not the only person going through this. Thanks all and God bless you and yours.

I cannot answer this one, as I have never experienced it myself. Additionally, to date, my own Doc son hasn't deployed as yet but we know it's inevitable.
I know, it's not easy, but what I do know is, a solid support network of family, friends and others, who are going through the very same thing does help.
DeeDee has a son who is deployed and we also have a good many others, who are members, here that are also deployed or have deployed before.
Don't apologize for asking the difficult questions. We are family here and provide support for one another.

"Family and friends of deployed Marines in Iraq can NOW send a letter to be downloaded, printed, and ready for delivery, usually within 24 hours.
THE SERVICE IS FREE, PRIVATE and SECURE."
I've also sent you a PM with some additional information.
Please feel free to post additional questions you may have and someone will reply as soon as possible.

Count your blessings! In today's world you have email with computer cams, as well as cell phones with text messaging and video capability. Back in the 80s when mine went out for a 6 month med float? Snail mail. Letters were it, and calls when they were in port. Nothing more and nothing instaneous.
How did I handle it? Well being active duty myself and working my job kept me busy. If you've got yourself a job then just focus on it. Also, I took flying lessons at that time. It was something I always wanted to do so I thought I'd preoccupy myself with that as well as my job. So on my days off I was learning to fly. Try to find something to preoccupy yourself so the time flies faster than it would if you're just sitting waiting for contact and his return. Thats my advice.
It's all a mind set. Set your mind right and you'll get through those lonely nights.
