Ok, so seeing this HM to BSN Program and after walkimg the halls of Duke Hospital yesterday, I am getting a little excited. I think the easiest and best route for me is to re-up in the Reserves. I am, however a little confused on how Drill Pay works. Can someone fill me in on that?
Are you going the evil nursing route? LOL ... just joking lima. Good for you. I can't help you on that, never was a weekend warrior myself. ;)

However, if it gets me to where I want to go, and maybe even earn me a Commision as well, then I am willing to make that sacrifice. :D

You know I was only joking ... you and I have spoken on how difficult it is getting a job on the outside when our only NEC was 8404. Go for it! We're not in the Navy forever and you have to support the family in the end. It pays well on the outside as well as with the commission. Just never forget from whence you came. ;)

I know that I was originally looking at going back AD so I could go back Green side, but I am looking at my families future as well as my own. I will NEVER forget where I came from. That is half my issue as far as in the civilian world...lol

I got out in the 70's and it was easier to find something. I was a construction medic for Brown & Root for a few years, but licensure issues and the oil bust etc. ended that.
I went back and got my RN. Should have done it earlier. Paramedic would have been all right, but we all get old and that's a lot of lifting, plus not as much money.
If you do it, do your BSN right off the bat. It took me yrs to go back and do it, then I did my Master's and got my Nurse Practitioner. Should have done that a long time ago, too.
There are all kind of routes. Right now I'm working with a retired green side IDC, who went PA after he got out. It's a good way to go, either way - you do what you know how to do and get paid for it.
psencik ... I just read your signature. Love it!

I love the signature. I am going to have to use that on the USMC Hangout. I have always said that my one regret while I was in was not taking better advantage of my free time. it is kind of sad that it took this long for me to do this, but when you get the itch...lol
