I saw it Wednesday and wish I had not. I should have gone to see Dr Seuss or at least join the half-dozen people walking out of the movie...
Needless to say I thought it sucked. It is not even worth a space on a Netflix que let alone the price of admission to a theater.
It wasnt that bad! I thought it was very good yes the one scene was a tad 2 long but it made u feel like you were apart of the film and waiting an anticipation as 2 ok what now. what do we do.........those harvard boys were very amusing and at the same time disturbing!

I was hoping for a dark comedy filled with sinister wit and all I saw was a high school film project full of sadistic overtones and some stupid warped reality. This is a bad remake of a 10 year old foreign flick (Yes, Funny Games, 1997, sort of a German variant of Cape Fear) My first indication that this movie was going to suck was shortly after the opening credits when they did that "dramatic" shift of music.
Things started to look up for a while, but they quickly went down hill again. Things happened for no rhyme or reason other than the fact that it was in the script. Talking to the camera and asking the audience questions? This isn't Ferris Buller's Day Off. How about grabbing the TV remote and "rewinding" the movie so we watch the scene again but with a different outcome? Then there is that long yawn in the middle of the film where nothing is really going on.
It was definitely not my cup of tea and that was the most people I have seen walk out on a movie in a long time. But since I stupidly sat through the whole thing, I got to hear the all comments as the lights came up and the audience walked to the parking lot... There was universal condemnation - which may explain its performance at the box office.

But, who knows, it will probably be considered a "cult classic" in a few years
I had never even heard of it. I can't follow your link from here at work ("entertainment" is blocked).
I'll trust your judgement PJ and won't waste my hard earned money on it.
The one thing I hate the most is wasting my time watching a movie ... you always long for that hour or two back in your life ... but if it was in a theater and not just on TV? I hate that even more!
PS ... its not too late to see Horton ... :)

Check your area to see if they have free movie screenings (often called premier, promotional, or word-of-mouth screening). I have been averaging about 3 or 4 movies a month since last summer and I have attended all of them for free, often before they officially open.
When buying tickets, the technique I use to increase the chances of not getting tricked by the hype is to wait and check the box office totals.
Skip the opening weekend because you cannot trust the advertisement hype or the so called critics. High box office numbers in week 1 are a good sign but definitely not a guarantee. Lots of people get caught in the hype, so the *sustained* box office numbers over several weeks is one of the better indicators that a movie will be good. You also have the opportunity to get feedback or recommendations from friends who have seen the film.
Of course this means you are not "the first on the block" to see a movie, but it also means you are less likely to be disappointed by a bad movie.
If a movie is crap, you should talk to the theater manager (hopefully before the end of the movie) and see what he can do for you. Often times they may provide anything from snack bar discounts to free tickets for another visit and sometimes a refund.
