Yesterday I came home to find this in my mail:
Dear Lorraine:
As you may be aware, the Marine Corps is actively seeking individuals who resided or worked aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC between 1957 and 1987 for our notification registry. Our records indicate that you may fall into this population, and as a result, your name and address have been added to our registry. We are concerned about your health and welfare, and want to ensure that you have all the information and resources you need.
Unregulated chemicals were discovered in some of the base drinking water systems in the early 1980s. At this time, the Marine Corps is funding health studies to determine when the drinking water was first impacted, who may have consumed it, and whether or not there may be an association between exposure to the water and certain health conditions.
The registry is a means to provide information regarding the past water quality aboard the base prior to 1987. For complete details regarding the registry, on-going studies, or history of events, please visit our website www.usmc.mil/clsurvey (http://www.usmc.mil/clsurvey) or call our toll-free information line, (877) 261-9782, to speak to a representative who can assist you with questions and concerns.
We appreciate your support in helping us reach all former residents and employees as we want to ensure the widest dissemination of information to our Marine family.
Sincerely,
E. G. Payne
Major General
United States Marine Corps
Assistant Deputy Commandant
Installations and Logistics
(Facilities)
I'm a big water drinker and I remember always drinking from the fountain in our GAS back then. Now I'm concerned!
They want this word to get around, so after you follow the link and register (if you were there back then), word of mouth to those you know were green side or blue on the base.
Can we sticky this Darryl for everyone to see even in later months?
