I have looked, but I cannot find the reason. I know there must be one, but cannot find it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are the entire doors painted red? It may symbolize blood. However, if you're referring to the origin of the red cross on white background, see below.
Everything you ever wanted to know about the origin of the Red Cross symbol and how it came to be:

Hmm, that still doesn't explain why HMCS had his doors painted red. Why, I don't know.
I understand the red cross designates an area to care for the sick, however there wasn't a cross painted on the doors.

If it's on a Marine Corps base, the Marines use Red a lot for their signs. Don't question the Senior Chief! HMCS might think you have to much time on your hands and assign you a work detail! Speaking from experience........lol.......

No, it wasn't that. Whats funny is that he told the XO that he was going to paint them, and for 3 days XO said no. 4th day, fed up, XO finally said yes.
One of our junior guys mentioned it had to do with history, so I just wanted to know.
