I'm John Munis, and I wrote this because I appreciate the mentors here and I want to be more than an anonymous recipient of your help. Also, this has solidified my reasons for taking this path:

A person can live for himself and strive for recognition, but I believe that living for others is the pinnacle of success, and I believe that real leaders are servant leaders. A concentration of these people are Docs in the FMF.

The Marines are worth fighting for, and that is why I am enlisting as a HM FMF when I turn 18 this November. I will strive to be counted on by the Marines, and to uphold the hard-earned honor of the FMF Docs.

"Out of every hundred men, ten shouldn't even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back." – Heraclitus

John. I wish you luck. It wasn't until after I served with the green a short time to have a attitide such as yours. I've never regreted becoming a Field doc and the spirit of being a Navy corpsman is always with me. Even 27 years later. Good luck and God's speed

Have you enlisted yet?

If not, be sure to look into the bonuses for FMF (8404) Corpsmen. It could earn you an extra $20,000 signing bonus. If you are going active duty, maximizing the GI-Bill and any available kicker programs is usually a great idea. A high ASVAB score might also earn you some extra money. Thanks Popsie and HMC-FMF-PJ. I will read those posts and talk to my recruiter today. I have already completed one and a half years of college, so I may also be eligible for other things.
