Greetings everyone, I'm a LCPL in the USMC Reserves looking for some info about Field Medic School. My SGT told me since I'm up for deployment this fall I'm priority for a bunch of military schools. One of the ones he mentioned was Field Medic School on 8/3-9/30 and I'm kind of interested. Here are my questions:

1. Is this a school to primarily teach first aid and lifesaving techniques or does it teach Corpsman that are already medically trained how to fit in with the Marines?
I'm interested in medical training, I already know how to be a devildog.

2. Libo? Will I get most weekends and evenings off as long as I do my part on field day?

3. POV?

4. Will I get a chance to get qualified with the M9?

5. Tobacco policies?

Thanks in advance for any info, and also thanks for your service.

I went to Field Med about one year ago at Camp Pendleton.

1.It teaches COMBAT life saving and teaches Navy corpsman how to serve in a Marine unit.

2.Liberty is in phases, at first you are restricted to part of Pendleton, and from there you progress through the weeks until you have overnight liberty (always must have a libo buddy).

3.You can have one and drive it from day one until you graduate, there is parking lot directly in front of the barracks.

4.No unless it has recently been changed.

5.Smoke pit is out back, don't leave you spit bottles around.

With all that said, I have never heard of a Marine attending Field Med. Best of luck.

Thanks for the info.
I'm not really sure if I am eligible, my SGT mentioned a few schools for which I'm sure I'm not eligible like SEAR and Scout Sniper. I'm just a POG so I'm definitely not eligible for that stuff until I spend some more time at SOI. I'm trying to explore any options though, school of some sort sounds better than AT.

This school is not for Marines, it is for Navy Corpsman who have successfully graduated and attained the Navy rate of Corpsman.

My advice is to "Quit Smoking".
