well what interests him? is he gonna be a lifer in the Navy? if not maybe he would want to go to a C school he can use in the real world. such as Xray tech, Bio-med tech, Cardio vascular tech etc etc...

...FMF is closed...

You mean there may not be any seats available at the moment for FMTB, but FMF is not closed!

Welcome AdamzGirl! Glad you have joined us. Please if you can try to get other Navy spouses & fiance's to join the board.

Just one question for you why are you so happy about FMF being closed? My hubby went threw it last August and I think it was the best thing for him. It really pushed him to his limits. Now he isn't a spring chicken (He's 31) but he kept up with the best of them. I believe just about every male goes threw FMF. I am sure someone will jump in on that one to verify for me.

Again welcome to our board and glad you are here :)

If he doesn't mind paperworks and likes aviation tell him to check out AVT, and if he wants to fly tell him to check our the SAR pipeline (which includes AVT), or Dive Med Tech, Surg Tech, and maybe even Lab Tech.

FMTB never closes - classes may be filled up right now but I'd be willing to bet that he will be attending it sooner or later. It's excellent training and going through it doesn't mean your fiance will be serving on green side(with Marines) if that is what you are afraid of. It just means he has the training necessary to work there if needed.

FMF closed, LOL

Welcome aboard, whatever his endevours or where the navy takes him, he should plan on doing his very best, getting whatever certifications he can, and trying to do what is best for him. As was already stated - FMF is NEVER closed, and reality is that once your 8404 they still consider your to be a Quad 0..... Its not considered by some to be a "C" school. He try and do something that he will like and will be able to use in the civilian world in case he doesn't make this a career. If he decides to stay Navy for 20+ years then he should go to IDC school, just remember there is no civilian equivelent for IDC, so if he is in for a short haul he should go do something else. Your in the right place for questions and such, hopefully Adam can register and become a member.

WELCOME ABOARD!!

yeah fmf was "full" when my husbands class graduated like 6 weeks ago, but somehow most of the class got it, so i dunno. i know what you mean though i was hoping the whole time he wouldnt get it and he didnt! but hes going to dive med tech, you should tell your fiancee to look into that, it sounds like a pretty good way to go!
