The reality is that Internet providers can circumvent the problem by upgrading their networks in order to meet the demands of their customers. They say that the industry must invest $55 billion in U.S. network upgrades ($130 billion worldwide) to keep the Internet running. For their part, they say that they re putting $19 billion into growing their network to keep Internet users safe from doom.
