If I wanted to get in with a USMCR squadron (Willow Grove), would I be required to pass a flight physicial in addition to a class 2 swim test?

Nope.. your talking Reserve right??

Just to be assigned you do not.. but if you want to be in a SAR position you have to go through all the training..

Also you do know the Willow Grove area is closing under BRAC right?

They tend to close a lot of places where live is good. Wilow Grove from what I heard back in the AD life I had, was a great place. I can say for sure that Cecil field was another gem they let go of.

I know a great way to save money- disband BRAC and close places like NORFOLK!!! Norfolk has always had a lousy reputation. Sailors hate the place or love it. Oceana was good, but that pit I mean ship base was a sucking hole. I never got stationed there, but went to enough carrier piers in my day.

One tour in Norfolk would have sent me packing. I just hated the few days a month I spent there. Rude people on and off base, lousy weather, I don't think the sun knows how to shine over Norfolk.

Even 32nd street had more class and sense of pride than NORVA did, always will.

Best sailor friendly place though was Pearl Harbor!

Are 8404 corpsmen in the reserves able to be activated in order to attend SAR training? How likely is this to happen? If not, how likely is it that you will be able to do casevac if you're assigned to a MAW as an 8404? What do you have to do as an 8404 to be able to do casevac? I think this was explained in an earlier post, but I'm a little confused about it.

Life at Willow Grove isn't too bad. I am just checking out of there. Willow Grove is closing, but the MAG and HMH-772 are only moving to Ft Dix in NJ. It's about an hour away from here. If your really interested in coming to the MAG at Willow Grove, send me a PM and I can answer most of your questions and put you in contact with the HMC there.

I had a good 3 years here, kind of wish I wasn't leaving, but that's how the AD Navy works.

casevac is being maintained strictly by the 8404 community currently, with past and current 8401's training them before they go out. Once the blue side 8401/8406 sea duty billets get filled 100%, we'll start filling green side (CASEVAC) orders with 8401/8406's.
