Hey all, I just got back from East Timor tonight! A small group of about 100 Marines and Sailors went to the Island located on the left shoulder of Australia. Tons of political turmoil going on there including the president being shot multiple times by rebels about 2 weeks before we got there. We trained and lived on the Australian bases set up there. The Australians are the main military force in the country (including it's own). I am confident in saying that the Australians make great Allies. First, those guys are HUGE. Second, they almost speak the same language as us, and third, they have some pretty sweet weapons. The country (East Timor) is the most beautiful country I have every been to, but also the poorest. We did a MED/DEN CAP and supported the Engineers building some new schools. We flew back to OKI tonight and we get on ship to go to Thialand on Monday, oh joy. Hope everyone is doing well, just figured I'd drop a note before we ship back out.
