Yesterday we mentioned (http://www.corpsman.com/shownews/Qwest-Launching-20Mbps-DSL-For-100-93785) that Qwest's new 12Mbps/1Mbps and 20Mbps/1Mbps ADSL2+ tiers must be getting very close to official launch, given the volume of chatter among employees and business partners. It appears the new tiers are now being displayed on the Qwest website (https://myaccount.qwest.com/MasterWebPortal/appmanager/home/Shop?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=BroadbandLandingPage), though Qwest still hasn't officially announced them. Users in Arizona, Colorado and Minnesota all tell us their zip codes show the service is available -- but to our knowledge nobody has been able to order the faster service yet.
For those who missed yesterday's news the new 20Mbps/1Mbps service (Qwest Connect Quantum) without phone service is $105, a price that jumps to $115 per month after a year. The price for 12Mbps/1Mbps service (Qwest Connect Platinum) is $52 a month, a price that jumps to $65 a month after 12 months.
We're still trying to get Qwest public relations to confirm that a tier that clearly exists actually exists (sigh) in order to get you some official launch markets, but so far they're not talking. We suppose their public relations ducks aren't in a row just yet for the official launch, but we assume they'll want to advertise their shiny new $300 million product at some point.
Meanwhile, if any Qwest customers have any success actually ordering either new tier, let us know in the comment section below.
