Qwest e-mails us to note they've officially launched the new 12Mbps & 20Mbps ADSL2+ tiers we've been talking about since Tuesday (http://www.corpsman.com/shownews/Qwest-Launching-20Mbps-DSL-For-100-93785). Not much new; we already leaked prices and speeds in our earlier posts (http://www.corpsman.com/shownews/New-Qwest-20Mbps-Service-Now-On-Website-93842), and Qwest isn't divulging precise launch locations. According to a press release that should hit the wires later this morning, the company hopes to have the faster tiers in 23 of Qwest's top markets across 10 states with a "phased roll-out" throughout 2008. Users interested in the tiers need to plug their zipcode into Qwest's website here (https://myaccount.qwest.com/MasterWebPortal/appmanager/home/Shop?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=BroadbandLandingPage), and hope the number crunchers at Qwest deemed their neighborhood profitable enough to upgrade.
"Qwest has committed to spend up to $300 million to bring the latest in fiber-optic technology closer to the customer than ever before, and we're ahead of schedule on our goal to make this service available to two million customers by the end of this year," insists Qwest executive vice president Dan Yost.
