A general manager for Time Warner Telecom (recently re-branded as TW Telecom) has penned an article (http://starbulletin.com/2008/04/27/editorial/special.html) arguing for a telecommuting increase in Honolulu. The article was written in response to the city s attempts to diminish gridlock by improving their mass transit system. The manager argues that an increase in employee telecommuting (which has been on the decline (http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/92310) nationwide) would decrease traffic without requiring the government investment that mass transit demands. He notes that the city and state governments both claim that they support telecommuting but that no data is available from them about the deployment of mobile commute options.
