Verizon is pressuring the FCC for the authority to cancel your cable phone, TV or broadband service for you. Processing disconnect orders directly from customers "significantly complicates the process of switching video providers, thereby entrenching the cable incumbents' dominant market position," Verizon claims. But the cable industry says that's nonsense (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2287130,00.asp), and argues that Verizon is simply trying to distract the FCC from Verizon's use of number port requests from new cable VoIP customers to win back already lost customers (http://www.corpsman.com/shownews/92923) (a violation of FCC rules).
