So I havn't signed in for a while now but its because my classes for optician c-school started a few weeks ago and they've been keeping me busy. Not really keeping 'me' busy, but i'm busy tutoring the other students so in effect it is keeping me busy. Woohoo! I take test 6 next Monday and i'm currently sitting at a 97.2 GPA. My class only consists of 11 students - 6 navy and 5 army. (Tri-service school; however, only army and navy students ever come. Air force is too good for opticians I guess : p ) Other than that... How's everyone doing? : ) 3 pages of unread posts for me.... seems like we've been busy! =-D

For anyone who is curios, The NEC for Optician is HM-8464 for the navy and the MOS is 68H for the army. The C-school is 24 weeks long and located in Yorktown, VA @ Yorktown Naval Weapons Station. Its broken down like this :

7 Weeks of Diadectic & 8 Tests.

Then you go to either 'Surfacing' or 'Finishing' Lab.
In surfacing lab you get 3 weeks of practice and 2 weeks of grading.
In finishing lab you get 2 weeks of practice and 3 weeks of grading.
Once your 5 weeks is up in one lab if you don't fail out, you go to the other lab. If you failed out, you either get kicked out or rolled back.
You have to turn in 60 lenses in Surfacing (Individual lenses, not sets) and 40 Glasses in Finishing, and labs count towards your final GPA.

After labs are finished the navy students go back to take other classes to include Clinical Procedures, Pharm. Agents, and Diseases/Disorders. The army students go to the 'field' to do... Not really sure. Something about combat training : p The navy goes to the field with the army for 3 days to learn how to make glasses with minimal equipment (Making glasses in a fleet hospital type deal) and there are some various other assignments. 7 weeks is spent after labs are finished, then you graduate.

For a grand total of 24 weeks of schooling.
