So I've been looking at the FMSS for a while now (thanks Chief for talking me into the full thing instead of the reserve side while I was up that way for class!)
Anyways, to help with the physical fitness side, are there any suggestions for exercises I could do while I'm sidelined with a broken ankle for the next 2 months? Other than the exercise I'm getting hauling myself up and down the steps on my butt w/ my arms only so I don't fall and look like a dork to my wife? :dude:
Sitting around all day is driving me nuts... (and my wife is being nice by limiting the food she brings upstairs for me in the AM to small relatively healthy selections.)

Do you have a cast on?

If so then I can't say "SWIM".. You will "SINK" ... But if you don't it will make you a better swimmer.. :D

Other then that.. Find yourself a bike machine that you can square youself away with, or do aerobic exercises that keep your HR up for at least 30-45 min's.. The hardest job will be re-hab later getting the muscles to work right as they have atrophied if they are in a cast. But A person who is in great physical shape heals much faster and better then a "FAT SLOB" sitting on the couch watching sponge bob.

Look on the web, Look for exercises for people who have limitations.. There will be quite a few..

Have your doc write a consult to PT get a with a PT in your area and ask them.

Get ahold of the Medical Officer in your unit, Call a GYM etc.. but don't wait.. It is to easy to say you will do it the next day, then the next, the next the next..

Get my drift...

Thanks Chief. It's in a splint right now, had to wait for the swelling to go down after the surgery, and the cast gets put on Monday morning. I'll look into the other recommendations you made when I see the doc on Monday (waiting at home for the maintenance people to bring our new fridge... the old one died yesterday when our power went out!)

Go BUCKEYES!!!
