I realize that once we get to Navy boot camp we are going to take EVERYTHING off and ship it home, and then proceed to buy EVERYTHING at the (insert navy military lingo for naval store).
I am wondering if we can bring the following:
A watch: if so what kind...the army allowed us to have a watch as long as it was solid black and we didnt mind destroying it.
Religious materials: Are we allowed to bring things like a personal bible and rosery beeds? How do religious services work at Great lakes...you name it they had a service for it at Ft Leonardwood (before you get crazy and say of course I am buddhist and will have a buddhist bible and mala beeds)
I think so far this is the extent of what I am wondering in terms of items.
Any help would be greatly appreciated here.

Hopefully someone who has recently been to bootcamp will answer you. It's been 20+ seen I've been there, LOL.
Though, you should be able to attend church services on Sundays and be able to maintain your religous items. Also, a cheap black watch probably isn't a bad idea either. Below is a link to the list of what is ok to bring:

This should help and should also provide some more answers to other questions.

There arefour people who get to wear a watch in boot. The RPOC and the 3 Yeoman.
As for religious services, they have all kinds of services every Sunday. A Buddhist service is available, as are more rare ones like Wiccan.
Religious materials are allowed ONLY on Sunday during Holiday Routine. All other times your bible and beeds are locked in your B drawer.
I just graduated boot22 Nov 06so this information is extremely current.

Hey Kaymanism,
Last I heard you could bring your own "RUNNING" Shoes. I can find out for you.
BTW I am @ home with 2 Sick Kids today so the files will have to wait until tomorrow unless I can get someone at work to log into my account (Which I really don't want to do for security reasons.)
I just didn't want you sitting there waiting all day.

LOL
Its all good. I ordered a boot camp doc and the file that was included in the Recon of the combat casualty care will keep me occupied...also still doing that "looking for a job" thing today...so no worries
That would be great about the shoes as well...if its true we can bring them then I most certainly invest in some and break them in prior to boot camp.
