Does anyone know the Army equivalent for USMC rifle expert badges? Do they transfer services? I tried to google it and having no luck at the moment.

Andi,
Most services make you re-qual. They have to. It's not what you did before, it's what you can do now. While John probably won't have to go through all of basic again, I am sure they will make him re-qual with the weapons. Weapons have changed since he got out as well.

The Musket, and Ball and Powder are no longer being used.. We also don't stand up in a line and someone yells fire.....

Additionally, at least in the Marines, we had to re-qualify every year. Failure to do so would result in the individual losing the right to wear the previous years rifle qualification badge. I'm sure the Army is the same. So.......no Marine Rifle qualification scores will transfer.

John said to let you know his musket was MUCH MORE advanced then the club you got accustomed to using. And why is it so funny that you mentioned this? We were watching a Civil War documentary the other night and commenting on the let's-form-a-line-and-then-shoot approach.

The let's form a line and shoot and/or advance didn't change a whole hell of a lot thru the Korean War. They fought WW1 from trenches. WWII they put them on little boats, sent the Marines onto an island, got on line and advanced. Korea not a whole different.

Vietnam a lot of put em on choppers, land in the middle and shoot.

psencik,
I'd have to agree with you on that one. I just finished a book about a POW during the Korean War and damn the way they faught was tremendous, during the early stages of the war. It took a lot of courage to fight the way they did during their time.

Though I'm not taking anything from any other war, the Korean War was just something I recently read about.
