I got HM in my contract and some college money. What I did not get in my contract as 8404 school. I asked the man that was drawing it out and said that it could not be put into the contract. Reading the posts on here I see that some people did get it. Did they just flat out lie to me or am I misunderstanding something?

I am concerned about this because I really want to do take this route and to be honest I feel like they rushed me through the process at MEPS. I was running on 20mins of sleep and did the ASVAB and Medical all on the same day. By the time I got to the Navy side of things I was quite out of it from the bloodwork and hours of standing around doing nothing.

I would really appreciate it one of you knowledgeable peeps educate me on this topic. I have no idea how to look this up etc.

Alexandru;

If you are going active duty, they won't put FMTB in the enlistment contract. If you are going Reserve, it can be placed int he enlistment contract.

Be advised, you 'will' be attending FMTB at some point in your Navy career.

Wow instant reply in the middle of the night! I am loving this site.

Thank you very much for clearing that up, and the "will get" makes me happy. I joined the Navy and picked HM so I can get some boot on the ground time so I am looking forward to it and hope that the Navy needs me on the Marine side. Don't get me wrong, hospital work is fun and respectable, but I am doing that right now in civilian life for much better pay.

Alexandru:

At corpsman.com, somebody is usually standing the watch :D. When you get to Corpsman 'A' school, make it known to your instructors that you are very interested in going to FMTB. They may be able to assist you in that endeavor.

While at Recruit Training Command, RTC and at Corpsman 'A' school, volunteer/join the 'Dive Motivator' program.

Yeah, don't worry about not having it in your contract. When you're almost through with Corps school you'll fill out a "dream sheet", a general list of places you prefer to be stationed at... such as sea duty (Marines, a ship or overseas) or shore duty (hospital, c-school, etc.). All you have to do is put Marines as your 1st sea duty preference and you'll go to FMTB enroute to your next command, usually 1stMarDiv or 2ndMarDiv. They're always looking for good corpsman with the Marines. The dive motivator will help you get into shape, but make sure you can swim and PT well enough to keep up. It's not too hard at dive moto, but the instructors don't like to waste everyone's time just for one guy/girl to catch up.
Hope this helps.

If you want FMF you will be able to get it, dont worry about that. They like people that want to go as opposed as people who are forced, at least thats what they tell me.

So at boot camp, you can join the Dive Motivator program as an HM? I thought that only spec ops candidates could do that. How can you join this program? What does it entail?

Myster;

I think you can 'screen' for it in boot camp, RTC.
