hello gentlemen,

I am a Corpsman c OHSU Det-D. I am finally ready to transfer to 3/25 H+S in order to go to FMSS(according to my NOSC, I have to go through the marines in order to go to FMSS), due to the fact that I joined under the old NPS and had to do my time blue before I went green. Coincidentally, I enjoyed every minute of it and would not take it back, but I joined to help marines like my friends at home in a field I know. The point? I was wondering if I can earn my FMF warfare pin as a reserve corpsman? What classes/boards are involved? How do I get said classes/boards? How long it will take?
If anyone has any info. it would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time. I apologize if this is a repeat thread but I have been on this thing forever looking for it.

First and foremost, welcome to the green side, you are in for a world of new experiences. Second, and even more importantly, welcome to 3/25, a unit rich in corpsman experience and tradition. If HMC Schaser is still attached to H&S Co., which I believe he is (he looks ALOT like Tobey Maguire, you'll know him when you see him), he can help put you on the path. Get attached and then get to FMSS, preferably in Pendleton - but I am biased - and then get your PQS manual. The Marines and corpsmen in H&S have alot of experience to help get your PQS completed, and many of the corpsmen earned their FMF device while in Iraq in 2005. Once you complete your PQS, the unit will help you find a written and oral board that is convening so you can take your boards and get your device. It will take some time as a reservist to complete it, but like all things, you get out of it what you put into it. Good luck with both the device and 3/25, it is a great unit.

I can vouch for 3/25, NHGL sent HM's over with them. A "STRONG" unit. Keep the faith brother..
You get what you put into it as far as the FMF device. Study, learn and respect your Marines as well as your SNCO's in charge of the medical dept, you will soon see everything is foreign to you.

I would love to talk to you after a year or so on the green side, then try to go blue.. Your panties will be in a wad..

;-)

Once you go green you can't go blue.. Drives you nuts..

Excellent. I am looking forward to it. I have friends in the 3/25 both in the main BAS and on the line and they can't get enough of it. I have my buddies older version of the FMF designator study guide and I also review the Marine Corps field guide so I am prepared before I go.
And Doc S, Tobie is doing fine, last time I saw him he was ADSW in Brookpark filling in for Chief Holmes, who has retired. I talked to him but he was more than busy. I can't wait to draw on the experience and gain some of my own. Thank you docs for your advice and time.

P.S. I will let you know how it goes Chief. Thanks.
