I love the whole "Hoorah, FMTB Pend. is better.......no FMTB Camp Lejeune" is better arguement. Just as the same as "no no no 1st is better than 2nd". I can debate all day with my boys (I personally went through FMSS @ Camp L) but in the end I think East or West we all had "REAL" training.........

Although this is from the FMTB East site, I would expect the Camp Pendleton school to operate in a similar manner: http://www.lejeune.usmc.mil/fmtb/fmst.shtml#billeting

My Husband graduated May of '08 @ Camp Pendleton. Goodluck with FMTB!

When he was going through school they were living 3 to each Barracks Room.
I'm sure it's changed since then.

...what are the barracks like there?

If you search through the FMTB threads, and/or use the search function, I'm pretty sure you can locate the answer to this question and many others...

BILLETING

For personnel ranks E1 through E5, berthing will be available in open bay (http://www.lejeune.usmc.mil/fmtb/images/openbay.ppt) barracks at no cost. A blanket, pillow, and linen will be issued to you upon check-in. These items must be returned upon detaching. Every attempt will be made to give senior personnel a private (http://www.lejeune.usmc.mil/fmtb/images/private.jpg) or semi-private room but this will be dependent on space availability. See “Student Materials” to download a copy of the FMTB Rules and Regulations (http://www.lejeune.usmc.mil/fmtb/rulesHandbook.doc) that covers all the rules and regulations of life at FMTB.

Storage space while at FMTB is limited. Do not bring large radios, televisions, or other large items as you will NOT have a place to store them. Additionally, knives over 3 inches in length and personal weapons (guns) are prohibited on base. It is not recommended to bring expensive jewelry, watches or cameras that run the risk of being stolen. NOTE: Cameras are allowed but may become damaged. A disposable camera is recommended.

If, upon check in, you are labeled a “Brown Bagger”, meaning you have your family living in the local area and you have follow on orders to the local area, you will be authorized to return home at the completion of the training day. Be warned, your training requires long days, many nights in the field, and late nights remaining onboard the base to prepare for the next days training events. Housing for your family members will be your responsibility. ALL students must maintain a rack in the barracks and participate in field day evolutions of the barracks on a regular basis.

It's absolutely amazing how much information a google or yahoo search will provide. Not even mentioning the Search (http://www.corpsman.com/forum/search.php) icon located at the top of the forums page of this website.

Hint: If you click the links above, you can view two photos of the current barracks. However, you won't be spending all that much time in them, which kind of makes it a moot point!

well i go to FMTB in october and i hear its goin to be fun...

It's a lot of fun, the instructors take you on nature hikes, and they use a nice soothing tone of voice when addressing you.
