I now know why I left Chicago in 1981...it is because I got tired of this
Good luck and try to stay warm, anyone want to buy a barely used snow shovel?

Chief
I didn't know you had 3 daughters, you better stay in the Navy so you can pay for the weddings or pray that 1 or 2 of them elope. I just talked to my sister and rubbed it in about the snow, she said the kid who normally shovels for them is sick so she had to do it...she ain't happy right now. I just sat back and....

No snow here, it was actually in the 70's or something like that!
Glad I ain't gotta shovel that stuff!
Talked to my son at HCS on Friday morning. He laughed and said they had cancelled school house for the day (he has to double up on tests next week). I tried to remember if any command I was stationed at ever cancelled because of weather. I can remember walking in snow up to my knees to get to the dispensary, but never being told I could sleep in cause it snowed.

Yeah, we have had much deeper snow before, it was just that we had ice first then snow.. Was not a matter of the students getting in vice us getting in from our houses. Most of the Chicagoland area was shut down.
The Papers said it all happend at the worst time, Traffic on the roads so the Salting Trucks and Plows could not get through. Our road still is terrible, trash was supposed to be picked up friday and is still out there. etc..
Some streets still are to be plowed completely..
Hell Last night and I will put a pic up later, we went out in the cold for the annual "SANTA" Parade, He "REFUSED" to ride in the back of the truck because it was so cold, they put a "PROP" up.. A FRICKEN MANIKAN!!!
My kids and my wife and I were out in the stuff and the parade went by at around 35 MPH.. Pretty darn fast for a parade..
So we took em out to B-fast with Santa this AM, this was before all hell broke loose on my day..
At least until I read Doc-Pardue's son's post on the football day..
HAH!
:D

Thanks to Da-Chief, the cold and snow are a thing of the past. At least for now.
I had to be there Friday for the snow. Then they canceled my flight out. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I had lots of company.
Thanks to the folks at the O'Hare USO. Instead of closing at 2300, they stayed open all night. They were real troopers. They stayed open and kept us fed and gave us a place to sleep. My covers is off to them.
Thanks for getting me out when you did Chief. I appreciate that. Now I won't have to bother you every day. I will be busy re-building my destroyed bathroom instead.

Good morning all, I am better today, all has return to normal at the Pardue house after yesterdays blood bath of upsets. Even with the upsets I ended up with 9 wins (the person I used to call my son)...LOL...ended up with 11. I just read I Do CPR 2 message about the USO and I have to say that they are a top notch group of folks. They welcome troops home, they fed ya, let you check email, give you a place to rest until your next flight at most airports. I still go to them whenever I fly and have some time until my next flight. They treat the old guys pretty well. Also gives me a chance to tell the ones coming home from the Sand Box welcome home. Last time I was in Chicago talked to several Corpsmen who had finish their training and going home. I am very thankful the USO is still there after all these years.

Glad 2 c, things are back to normal at the Pardue House. It's about time, remember it's only a game! Yeah, the son seemed he was having fun with ol'dad.
I agree with the USO comments always great people doing great things.
