No more HM slots?

Wondering if anyone can confirm and explain or confirm and help out a recruit for me. She will be signing up later on tonight when she gets home so she will see the answers. (do i get promoted for signing up recruits :P)

Anyways...I am sitting here in my DEP meeting and she was really sad that I got HM and she didnt. She is stating that all she wanted was HM but they were stating there were no more slots available for the year...is that even possible?

In case it matters she got a 48 ASVAB...not sure if that disqualified her...but then they should have said she wasnt qualified...instead of there were no more slots...any help would be greatly appreciated

It's all about billets, we probably are full for now, she should check back monthly..If some fall out she can take the spot..

Same thing happened to me when I first came in the Navy wayyyy back in the day.

They asked what other job I wanted since HM wasn't available. I told them HM and that was it.

Funny thing is they found a billet that day.

Ya, pretty much were kicking corpsman out so we can bring in new ones or something like that lol. If all she wants is HM tell her not to join up until she gets it, up until your at your at boot camp I believe You can still just opt to not go lol. If i remember correctly I was told that all the other "swear ins" are mostly to getcha thinking that ya cant pull out.
