Broadcom co-founder Henry T. Nicholas III has been in a lot of hot water over the years with the most recent problem (http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/95069) being narcotics charges arising from the fact that he apparently used drugs to propel his business forward. The OC Register (http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/homepage/abox/article_2067859.php) has a lengthy report detailing the rise and fall of the company s leader and suggesting that Broadcom s past problems are inextricably linked with the personal problems Nicholas was dealing with. "The same maverick mindset that spurred Nicholas to do illegal drugs may have prompted him to lead his company down a path of corrupt accounting."
The problems that Nicholas had didn t stop the company in its tracks, though. Under his leadership, Broadcom managed to grow to be a billion-dollar company faster than any other business had in U.S. history. Ultimately, though, his problems got the better of him and Nicholas was asked to leave the company. It is noted that Broadcom expects four times that $1 billion revenue this year.
