With Sony hot on their heels (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aClqhxdVor6g) and planning to launch their own film & TV download service this summer, Microsoft today announced they'll not only be overhauling the Xbox 360's GUI completely, they'll be enabling live streaming from Netflix (full E3 presentation at Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/14/engadget-and-joystiq-live-from-microsofts-e3-2008-keynote/)) in a software update this fall. The partnership (in addition to a new deal with NBC Universal) would put the total Xbox 360 downloadable film and TV selection count at over 10,000.

With all of these companies ramping up their delivery of broadband video (DirecTV "VOD" also comes to mind (http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6578040.html)) ISP execs are probably eager to expedite their caps and overage plans (http://www.corpsman.com/shownews/94240). They have a few years before they really need to worry; broadband video still has a long way to go (http://www.corpsman.com/shownews/93307) before it disrupts traditional broadcast -- and in fact people are watching more cable TV than ever (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/08/business/media/08adco.html?_r=1&ref=business&oref=slogin/).
