Judging by the meeting agenda (http://www3.dps.state.ny.us/pscweb/WebFileRoom.nsf/ArticlesByCategory/446331384179991D852574830070DD04/$File/pr08076.pdf?OpenElement <br>) for the New York State Public Service Commission, they should be approving Verizon's application for citywide New York City video franchise today. The agreement, hashed out between Verizon and the mayor largely in secret, is 59 pages long with 74 appendices and multiple additional borough agreements. Verizon promises the agreement has them wiring the entire city with FiOS by 2014, but those who've actually read the monster say that by and large it's a gift to Verizon (http://www.gothamgazette.com/article/tech/20080530/19/2539), allowing them to wiggle out of those promises down the road. Still, if you're in a NYC neighborhood Verizon number crunchers deem profitable, this is very good news.
