After a botched satellite launch last March (http://www.corpsman.com/shownews/92713), things looked dire for Dish Network's HD lineup. They managed to overcome the lack of new capacity by playing public relations patty cake (http://www.corpsman.com/shownews/94442) with their channel count last May, but with Echostar II biting the dust (http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6579098.html), they needed some help. They got it today with the announcement (http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/space-systemsloral-built-echostar-xi-satellite/story.aspx?guid={83AAD307-1198-4BAA-B318-FEF84E4E6BD4}&dist=hppr) that Echostar XI successfully launched last night. Dish says they'll be adding 16 HD channels on August 1, fulfilling their promise to have more than 100HD channels available before the end of the year.
